Japanese toy company TAKARA TOMY's popular mechanical beast toy series "ZOIDS" has announced a collaboration with Japan's premier dinosaur research center, the "Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum," to release a limited edition ZOIDS model kit product, "Fukuiraptor." The product will be available for purchase starting May 31, 2025, at the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum MUSEUM SHOP.
The prototype for this product is based on the "Kitadani Fukuiraptor" dinosaur fossil excavated from the "Kitadani Formation," a Mesozoic Cretaceous stratum in Katsuyama City, Fukui Prefecture. It is the first carnivorous dinosaur fossil discovered in Japan to have its entire skeleton successfully restored. Currently, the complete skeleton fossil of Fukuiraptor is on display at the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors annually to this world-class dinosaur research center.
The limited edition product "Fukuiraptor" is a modification of TAKARA TOMY's previously released "ZW09 Burst Raptor," utilizing new colors to replicate the yellowish hue of a fossilized skeleton. Detailed product information will be announced at a later date.
