Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company HOBBY Division will release the latest product from the anime "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX", "HG 1/144 Red Gundam", on May 31, 2025. The official channels have also released new information such as the product's box art design and actual sample images on the eve of its release.
The gMS-α Red Gundam was originally the latest mobile suit, "RX-78-02 White Gundam", developed by the Earth Federation Forces in Universal Century 0079. However, due to the successful snatch operation by Zeon Principality's ace pilot Char Aznable, this unit, along with the Pegasus-class assault landing ship No. 1 "Pegasus", fell into the hands of the Principality of Zeon. After modifications, an "α-type psycho-communication system" was added compared to the original unit, allowing the pilot to remotely control 6 unmanned attack drones for all-directional attacks using their brainwaves, ultimately becoming Char's personal mobile suit, the "Red Gundam".
The "HG 1/144 Red Gundam" utilizes Bandai's latest color separation, part division, and articulation mechanism technologies to recreate the design style of Ikuto Yamashita from "Neon Genesis Evangelion". It precisely reproduces the complex head sculpt, using dark red, light red, and black molded colors to present the characteristic color scheme of Char's custom unit. However, most of the detailed black and yellow sections will still require self-painting or the use of included stickers for color correction.
The accessories include a beam rifle, a shield, two beam sabers, a meteor hammer, and two unmanned attack drones. The meteor hammer's chain is assembled from multiple interlocking parts, allowing for flexible articulation and a powerful curve when thrown. The two unmanned attack drones can be carried by hanging them on the outer sides of the shoulders, or displayed with a stand to recreate firing scenes.
