The HBO series adaptation of "Harry Potter" today made a significant announcement, revealing the three new child stars set to take on the iconic lead roles: Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, and Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger. All three are relatively new talents, with even the authoritative film database IMDb yet to feature their headshots.
Notably, as Stanton is an actress of color, officials had anticipated potential backlash regarding her ethnicity. Consequently, the comment sections for all related casting announcement posts have been restricted.

Previously confirmed cast members include Luke Thallon as Professor Quirrell, Paul Whitehouse as caretaker Argus Filch, Nick Frost as gamekeeper Rubeus Hagrid, Paapa Essiedu as Professor Severus Snape, Janet McTeer as Professor Minerva McGonagall, and John Lithgow as Headmaster Albus Dumbledore.
The "Harry Potter" series is helmed by Francesca Gardiner, co-writer of "His Dark Materials," who serves as showrunner. Mark Mylod, director of "The Menu," is involved in directing, with McTeer also having been a cast member in "The Menu." The show is slated to adapt one book per season, totaling seven seasons, with the first season expected to premiere next year.
