Following the joint announcement in February 2025 by the editors-in-chief of Marvel Comics and DC Comics, teasing a new crossover event for this year, both publishers have now simultaneously unveiled their highly anticipated new titles, "Deadpool/Batman" and "Batman/Deadpool," via their respective social media channels and official websites. The first single issue is slated for release on September 17, 2025.
Marvel President Dan Buckley and DC Publisher Jim Lee both acknowledged that such collaborations are rare, occurring only once every decade or so, due to the extensive upfront planning, human resource coordination, and commercial allocation required. Lee emphasized, "This is an event for a generation of readers."
The inaugural "Deadpool/Batman" issue will be penned by Zeb Wells, known for his work on "Amazing Spider-Man" and as a key writer for the upcoming "Deadpool & Wolverine" film. Art and cover duties will be handled by Greg Capullo, a long-time artist on "Batman."
Meanwhile, DC Comics' "Batman/Deadpool" is scheduled for publication in November 2025. This issue will feature a script by Grant Morrison, acclaimed for "All-Star Superman," with art by Dan Mora, whose previous credits include "Justice League" #45 and "Batman/Superman: World’s Finest" #12.
Notably, Marvel and DC have indicated that the next wave of crossover single issues is expected in 2026, though the characters and creative teams involved remain undisclosed.
