WETA Workshop, the world-renowned TV and film special effects company, recently announced a new addition to its "Miniature Statue" product line, the "MÛMAK IN BATTLE" statue, from The Lord of the Rings! Shipping is expected to begin in Q4 2025, with a suggested retail price of US$179.

In the lore of The Lord of the Rings, Mûmakil are elephant-like creatures from the South of Middle-earth, but their size is far more astonishing than that of elephants. In Hobbit legends, Mûmakil are said to be as large as houses. During the Battle of the Pelennor Fields, which erupted in the Third Age at Minas Tirith, the capital of Gondor, the Haradrim charged into battle riding Mûmakil. In the film The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, the appearance of the Mûmakil and their overwhelming might were truly spectacular; a single stomp or a mere swing of their head was enough to decimate numerous Rohirrim cavalry, making them truly terrifying.

This Mûmak, rendered in three dimensions at a height of 16.5 cm, fully captures its dynamic pose during battle. From the rough skin texture and wrinkles, the lifelike color rendition of its tusks, and the wooden howdah (saddle) placed on its back by the Haradrim, to the meticulously recreated "Eye of Sauron" symbol painted in red, the overall piece is incredibly exquisite and grows more appealing the more you look at it. Furthermore, collecting such a colossal beast, which is super-sized in its lore, in this miniature form is quite fascinating! It would have been even more perfect if the Haradrim riders had been included.
