In a recent interview with Austrian media outlet Kurier, Eastwood directly declared his intention to continue making films. He stated that there was no reason why one couldn't grow with age, and that he now had much more experience. He acknowledged that some directors' skills decline at a certain age, but emphasized that he was not that kind of director. Kurier further added that Eastwood was already in pre-production for his next film.
During the same interview, Eastwood also discussed his views on the prevalence of franchise films. He expressed nostalgia for a bygone era when screenwriters crafted films like "Casablanca" in small bungalows on studio lots, a time when everyone had new ideas. He noted that today, we live in an age dominated by remakes and series. While he himself had directed three sequels, he had long since lost interest in them.
