Released by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd., the "S.H.Figuarts (Shinkocchou Seihou)" series, which sculpts from the skeletal structure to give tokusatsu heroes their original cool appearance and natural articulation, has announced the latest product from the tokusatsu series "Ultraman Tiga," the "Ultraman Tiga Multi Type -Star of Ultra Edition-", scheduled for release in December 2025.
This product is based on Episode 49 of "Ultraman Tiga," titled "Star of Ultra." This episode pays homage to the Tsuburaya Productions team who created the original "Ultraman" in the 1960s, including Eiji Tsuburaya, known as the "Father of Japanese Tokusatsu," and screenwriter Tetsuo Kinjo. It tells a fictional story, integrated into the "Tiga" worldview, describing the secret birth of the original "Ultraman," and even features a dreamlike joint battle between Tiga and the original Ultraman.
The newly released "Ultraman Tiga Multi Type -Star of Ultra Edition-" is not a revised version of previous releases, but an entirely new product with a completely new sculpt. The overall design is based on data from Koji Nakamura, the suit actor for Tiga in Episode 49. His skeletal structure and physique were digitized using full-body 3D scanning technology, and the prototype was created by Minoru Narita, who was responsible for the original suit design. The sculpt differs from the previously released Shunsuke Gondo Multi Type and Koji Nakamura Power Type, boasting a more robust physique.
Most of the articulation design is similar to previous versions, allowing for a wide range of dynamic battle poses from the show with its abundant movable joints and precise articulation splits. However, this version features improved articulation for the chest parts. The pectoral muscle parts on both sides, based on the color timer, now have added articulation splits, allowing them to move towards the center of the chest. This ensures that when the shoulder joints raise the arms upwards, the position of the pectoral muscles more closely resembles their appearance in the show.
Accessories include a replacement color timer part with a flashing red light, a new "White Zeperion Ray" effect part that closely matches its appearance in Episode 49, and a new hand part recreating the thumbs-up gesture from Episode 25, "The Devil's Judgment." Furthermore, it can be combined with the interlocking parts from the separately sold "S.H.Figuarts (Shinkocchou Seihou) Ultraman" to recreate the iconic handshake scene between Tiga and the original Ultraman from Episode 49.
