Danish game studio IO Interactive, known for the "Hitman" series, has officially unveiled the title of its highly anticipated "007" game: "007 First Light." This mysterious new project, originally codenamed "Project 007," has garnered significant attention since its initial reveal in 2020, and is now finally ready to be showcased.
According to official sources, "007 First Light" is set for its global debut this week, promising never-before-seen gameplay footage. While a specific reveal time hasn't been announced, most industry insiders speculate the game will officially premiere at Summer Game Fest on June 7th.
IO Interactive stated that the game will usher in a "new era" for the James Bond video game series. Studio CEO Hakan Abrak previously revealed that the game will completely break away from previous film iterations, not borrowing any past actors or storylines, but instead "building a brand new Bond universe from the ground up."
In an interview last year, Abrak also teased that development on "007 First Light" was progressing smoothly, expressing hopes that the title could mark the beginning of an entirely new trilogy. He emphasized, "This is a young Bond tailored for players, a character they can grow with."
