The 1/144 scale Gunpla "HG (High Grade)" series, known for its diverse range of mobile suits and released by Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company HOBBY Division, has officially announced the latest product from the anime "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX," the "HG 1/144 White Gundam," slated for release in December 2025.
The RX-78-02 White Gundam was originally the latest mobile suit developed by the Earth Federation Forces in Universal Century 0079. It was a core component of the "V Project," a mobile suit development plan proposed by Amuro's father, Tem Ray, and was equipped with powerful beam weapons capable of turning the tide of battle. However, as the unit was about to undergo its final tests at Side 7 colony, it was successfully seized by the Principality of Zeon's ace pilot, Char Aznable, during a snatch operation. Along with the Pegasus-class assault landing ship No. 1, "Pegasus," it fell into the hands of the Principality of Zeon, crushing the Earth Federation Forces' hopes of counterattack and leading to the defeat in the One Year War.
The "HG 1/144 White Gundam" is based on modifications to the previously released Red Gundam. It utilizes new red, white, blue, and yellow molded parts to reproduce the iconic colors of the protagonist Gundam and faithfully recreates Ikuto Yamashita's design style, which blends realistic industrial aesthetics with science fiction elements. The overall design and articulation are largely the same as the Red Gundam, with the key difference being the head, which uses new parts to recreate its initial appearance before the brainwave transmission device was installed or before it was modified by Zeon.
The armament accessories include Earth Federation Forces standard beam sabers, a beam rifle, a shield, and a newly designed Hyper Bazooka. Combined with the flexible articulation design, you can recreate highly dynamic battle scenes from the series, paying homage to the original Gundam!
