Six years after the $49 million live-action film "Dora and the Lost City of Gold," based on Nickelodeon's iconic cartoon series "Dora the Explorer," Nickelodeon is rebooting the franchise with a new film, "Dora and the Search for Sol Dorado." The first full trailer and official key art (pictured below) were released tonight.

The cast has been completely revamped, with no returning actors from "Dora and the Lost City of Gold." Isabela Merced, who played Dora in the previous film, has been replaced by rising star Samantha Lorraine. Daniella Pineda, known for her roles in "The Accountant 2" and "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom," takes on the villain role this time.

"Dora and the Search for Sol Dorado" is directed by Alberto Belli and written by JT Billings, who previously penned episodes for Nickelodeon's anthology series "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" The story follows Dora, Diego, and their new friends as they journey through the perilous Amazon jungle to find the ancient treasure of Sol Dorado, aiming to prevent its powerful magic from falling into the wrong hands. Unlike "Dora and the Lost City of Gold," this film will not have a theatrical release; instead, it will premiere exclusively on Paramount+ on July 2.
