DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn's upcoming "Superman" film, which he is writing and directing, recently graced the cover of Entertainment Weekly (EW)'s latest issue, releasing a trove of new stills, behind-the-scenes glimpses, and magazine photoshoot images (see below). During his interview, Gunn also revealed several plans for the future of the DC Universe.
First, Gunn confirmed he is already planning the character's future stories. He stated that what he is currently conceptualizing is, in some ways, a sequel, but he couldn't definitively say if it would be a direct "Superman" sequel.
Additionally, Gunn revealed that beyond the currently developing "Wonder Woman" spin-off series "Paradise Lost," a new "Wonder Woman" feature film is also in development. Gunn stated that "Paradise Lost" is slowly but surely moving forward, and that they are also writing the script for the "Wonder Woman" film. However, Gunn did not disclose the identity of the screenwriter.
Following Gunn's remarks, outlets like Variety reported that the new "Wonder Woman" would be a reboot, with Gal Gadot not returning to the role. While Gunn has not directly confirmed Gadot's departure, it has been widely speculated. Even the previously planned "Wonder Woman 3" was confirmed by Gadot and director Patty Jenkins (who helmed the first two films) to have ceased development.

During the interview, Gunn also discussed his vision for "Superman." Officials had previously emphasized that the new DC Universe is a world where superheroes have long existed. Gunn further elaborated that he won't reintroduce the concept of humans adapting to extraordinary individuals or supernatural phenomena. For the general public within the film's world, seeing King Shark walking down the street will be as commonplace as encountering a public figure like Paul McCartney, without eliciting an overly shocked reaction.

Regarding characters, Gunn noted that the film will heavily emphasize the differing values between Clark and Lois. Clark tends to see the good in people, while Lois is more inclined to be skeptical, leading to numerous conflicts between them. Furthermore, "Superman" will include other superhero characters like Green Lantern Guy Gardner and Hawkgirl, partly because Gunn aims to build out Superman's social circle. He explained that Superman, like anyone else, has work friends and friends he socializes with outside of work; Gardner and the Justice League International heroes are his work friends, while his Daily Planet colleagues are his leisure friends.
