BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd.'s collector's toy division, TAMASHII NATIONS, has announced that the latest product from the new Gundam series anime "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX", the "GFreD", will be released in December 2025 as part of the "METAL ROBOT SPIRITS" series, which combines metallic paint finishes and alloy frames.
The gMS-κ Gundam FreD is the second unit of the Gundam QuuuuuuX, developed by the Kycilia Zabi faction of the Principality of Zeon military in the lunar city of Granada, with Nean, who joined the Zeon army, serving as its pilot. This unit's body structure adopts the same design system as the GQuuuuuuX and is equipped with a "κ (KAPPA) type psycho-communication system" that can leverage the advantages of Newtype pilots. This system not only allows for intuitive control of the unit through the pilot's brainwaves and remote operation of a pair of miniaturized head funnel weapons, but also enables connection with the strategic weapon "Iomagnus" to cause a massive "Zeck Nova" phenomenon.
The "METAL ROBOT SPIRITS GFreD" is a modification of the previously released first unit, GQuuuuuuX. It utilizes new parts to recreate the distinct head and shoulder designs, and features a new heavy paint application in various purple and green tones reminiscent of the EVA Unit-01's color scheme, along with new body markings.
The body structure is fundamentally the same as the GQuuuuuuX, thoroughly recreating the unique armor and joint designs by Ikuto Yamashita. It features an alloy frame that provides a substantial feel and firm joint strength, allowing for dynamic and powerful battle poses.
For weapons, it includes a beam rifle, beam saber, and shield of the same specifications as the GQuuuuuuX, with the paint colors changed to match the GFreD's scheme. Additionally, the pair of head-mounted funnel weapons on the GFreD, "Luna/Artemis", come with the main body and flight trajectory effects to recreate firing scenes. The head can also be swapped with alternative parts to display the funnels before and after firing.
