Japanese model manufacturer GOOD SMILE COMPANY's robot and mecha-themed model toy brand, MECHA SMILE, today officially announced its brand new brick-style product series, "BRICK ROID". The announcement also previewed several characters currently under development, with the product plan set to gradually unfold in the future.
"BRICK ROID" is a line of finished models produced in a brick-figure style. Designer -moino- is responsible for character design and product modeling, transforming classic robot characters from Japanese anime and manga into articulated figures with a uniform height of 5 cm. Their distinctive appearances are faithfully recreated through cute designs, and the neck and limbs all feature rotatable articulation. The soles of their feet have a common groove specification, allowing them to be attached to 5mm studs on building blocks.
The currently revealed product lineup will feature "Tetsujin 28-go," "Mazinger Z," and "EVANGELION Unit-01." Each figure will come with related characters or weapon accessories from the original works, such as Shotaro Kaneda, Jet Scrander, and the Lance of Cassius, respectively. In the future, it is also planned to release allied characters like Great Mazinger and EVA Unit-02, as well as enemy characters such as the General of Darkness and Unit-13, to further expand the series' world view and playability!
