CD Projekt Red's acclaimed action RPG, "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt," nearly concluded with a massive "suicide mission" finale. Recently, Marcin Blacha, lead writer for "The Witcher 3," revealed in an interview with PC Gamer that during development, the team had planned an ending inspired by "Mass Effect 2," even going so far as to design preliminary scenes and mission content.

According to Blacha, the original concept involved protagonist Geralt infiltrating the Wild Hunt's ranks as an inside agent, leading to a final showdown reminiscent of "Mass Effect 2." He stated that it was envisioned as a suicide mission where Geralt would gather a team of companions, sail on a Skellige ship into the frozen seas, and confront the Wild Hunt head-on.
However, CD Projekt Red ultimately abandoned this idea, opting to "redesign" the ending to focus more on Geralt's personal emotions and destiny. Despite the change, elements of the original concept's setting were retained in the final version of the game's conclusion.

Interestingly, this unrealized ending has fueled further speculation about "The Witcher 4." In fact, during a recent technical demonstration for "The Witcher 4," CDPR confirmed that the Manticore monster, which was cut from "The Witcher 3," will be introduced. Additionally, the development team revealed they are drawing inspiration from RPGs like "Kingdom Come: Deliverance II" and "Baldur's Gate 3," though they explicitly stated, "We won't be making a game like 'Baldur's Gate 3.'"
