Hideo Kojima's "Death Stranding" game series is expanding its universe beyond the upcoming sequel, "Death Stranding 2: On the Beach," which launches later this month. The franchise is also set to receive a live-action film, confirmed to be written and directed by "A Quiet Place: Day One" director Michael Sarnoski , and an animated project. Today brings new details on the latter.

Kojima Productions and Los Angeles-based animation and post-production house Line Mileage recently announced they are developing an adult-oriented animated "Death Stranding" feature film. The script will be penned by Aaron Guzikowski (pictured above), known for writing "Prisoners" and creating the series "Raised by Wolves." This animated film will tell an original story set within the "Death Stranding" universe, rather than adapting the game's narrative. However, officials did not specify whether it will connect with the live-action movie.
