The long-gestating "Highlander" reboot, helmed by "John Wick" franchise director Chad Stahelski, is nearing its production start, meaning casting news is beginning to surface. Today, Collider exclusively reported that Russell Crowe has joined the cast. While his specific role remains undisclosed, fans await an official announcement.

Crowe's addition also marks a reunion with his former on-screen son, Henry Cavill, who is set to star as the protagonist in the new "Highlander." The two previously portrayed the Kryptonian father-son duo in "Man of Steel," with Cavill as Superman/Kal-El and Crowe as his father, Jor-El.
The new "Highlander" project was initially developed at Lionsgate, but Amazon and MGM acquired the rights two months ago. The reboot is reportedly budgeted at $180 million, a significant upgrade from the original film's mid-to-low budget production.
