The alloy action figure series "MORTAL MIND" released by Chinese toy brand CCSTOYS, following "EVA Final Unit", has once again announced that the second product from the official spin-off novel "Neon Genesis Evangelion ANIMA", "EVA Unit-02 Type-II", is currently under development.
"Neon Genesis Evangelion ANIMA" is an official spin-off novel created by Takuma Kageyama and Ikuto Yamashita. It diverges from the end of Episode 24 of the TV series "Neon Genesis Evangelion", depicting an "if" story three years after the "Human Instrumentality Project" was not activated. Many original settings were significantly altered, with 17-year-old Shinji Ikari, Asuka, and Rei Ayanami continuing to pilot new EVA units to prevent the "Human Instrumentality Project" from being reactivated.
The new unit currently under development is the "EVA Unit-02 Type-II" piloted by Asuka in the story. Due to Unit-02 being severely damaged during the battle at NERV Headquarters, with its head pierced by the Lance of Longinus, approximately 40% of its body was extensively repaired. Its head, however, could not be fully repaired due to nerve system damage, changing from four eyes to two. The full-body restraints were also changed to the same specifications as the Unit-00' Kai, and overall performance was significantly enhanced. The original umbilical cable power supply method was also abolished, replaced by a "wireless power rectification antenna" mounted on its back, capable of receiving microwave charging sent by the S2 Engine within NERV Headquarters, thereby increasing its operational time.
