Duncan Jones, the acclaimed director behind "Warcraft" and "Source Code", has unveiled the first stills from his highly anticipated sci-fi feature, "Rogue Trooper." This marks Jones's return to the genre after seven years. Released via Empire magazine, the initial images are accompanied by two behind-the-scenes photos showcasing actors in motion-capture suits (the final two black-and-white images below). The film is a live-action/animation hybrid, meticulously crafted using Epic Games' Unreal Engine 5.

"Rogue Trooper" is an adaptation of the iconic comic strip by Scottish writer Gerry Finley-Day and English artist Dave Gibbons, with Jones also penning the screenplay. The narrative unfolds on the fictional "Nu-Earth," a planet ravaged by an intense, ongoing conflict between the fascist Norts and the democratic Southers. The story centers on "19," a Genetic Infantryman (GI) who emerges as the sole survivor of a devastating, betrayed mission. This super-soldier embarks on a relentless quest to hunt down the traitor responsible for the massacre of his comrades.

The stellar ensemble cast features Sean Bean, Matt Berry, Aneurin Barnard, Alice Lowe, Jack Lowden, Jemaine Clement, Asa Butterfield, Hayley Atwell, and Diane Morgan. Barnard takes on the pivotal lead role of GI "19." A release date for the film has not yet been announced.
