Following the conclusion of her highly publicized trial with ex-husband Johnny Depp, Amber Heard has largely stepped away from new projects for two years, with the exceptions of "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom" and "In The Fire", both of which she was contracted for prior to the legal proceedings. However, today, Variety exclusively reported that Heard has landed a new acting role, though it won't be in a Hollywood film or television production.

According to Variety, Heard has joined the cast for the world premiere of the stage play "Spirit of the People," set to debut at this year's Williamstown Theatre Festival. The production will run from July 17 to August 3. Playwright Jeremy O. Harris (pictured above) revealed to Variety that nearly half of the play's dialogue is in Spanish, which likely factored into Heard's casting, as she is now based in Spain and is fluent in the language. The official synopsis for the play broadly describes it as confronting "uncomfortable truths about land and what it means to destroy it."
