Following the "Godzilla 1995 KAGEMARU DESIGNS," Japanese company PLEX (株式会社プレックス), in collaboration with various sofubi artists for its "GODZILLA VINYL ART" series, has unveiled the third entry: the "Godzilla 2001 Frog Tree (Normal Version)." Priced at 30,000 JPY, this new collectible will be available for pre-order starting June 27, 2025, at noon JST, with an estimated shipping date of August 2025!
Frog Tree (フロッグツリー) is a Japanese trio of designers renowned for their "Wa" (Japanese aesthetics) themed works, making waves in the international sofubi art scene. Their creations are more than just vinyl toys; they are true works of art that blend artistic expression with traditional Japanese beauty, garnering significant attention from art toy enthusiasts worldwide.
This latest collaboration in the GVA series with Frog Tree, following the "Godzilla 1995 Frog Tree Ukiyo-e," features the highly recognizable GMK Godzilla from the 2001 film "Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack." Standing approximately 25 cm tall, the figure reinterprets GMK Godzilla's ferocious stance through Frog Tree's distinctive style. The sculpt masterfully captures the rough texture of his skin, while his sharp claws and dorsal fins are exquisitely rendered with the unique proportions characteristic of sofubi. Painted details on the chest, back, and feet add visual depth, offering collectors a fresh take on GMK Godzilla through Frog Tree's unique aesthetic.
Additionally, a "Burning Red Version" colorway will be released simultaneously, offering collectors an alternative visual experience!
