PLEX Co., Ltd. (株式会社プレックス), in collaboration with various sofubi creators, is set to release the third entry in their "GODZILLA VINYL ART" series. Alongside the standard edition of "Godzilla 2001 Frog Tree," a striking "Burning Red Color" (バーニングレッドカラー) variant will also be available. Both versions are priced at 35,000 JPY (tax included) and will be open for pre-order on June 27, 2025, at noon JST, with an estimated shipping date of August 2025!
The film "Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack" (GMK) depicts Godzilla's vengeful return to Japan. This iteration of Godzilla is possessed by the spirits of those who died in the Pacific War, rendering him nearly invulnerable. Humanity's only hope lies in cooperating with the three Guardian Monsters: Baragon, Mothra, and King Ghidorah, to defeat him.
Building upon the same sculpt as the standard release, the "Burning Red Color" variant showcases Frog Tree's signature Japanese aesthetic. It's crafted with a subdued, low-saturation red, highlighting the inherent flexibility of the sofubi material. Utilizing a sophisticated weathering technique, the figure deliberately exposes underlying paint layers, creating a unique texture with a sense of depth and weight. This approach results in areas that appear almost carbonized, offering a distinct visual experience compared to the standard edition!
