Three months after his official return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a special appearance on "Daredevil: Born Again," Jon Bernthal's Punisher is set for many more opportunities within the MCU. Not only is he confirmed to join "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," the fourth solo film for Tom Holland's web-slinger, but it was also announced in February that a "The Punisher" TV special would film before his solo series continues. Today, more details about this special have emerged.

According to an exclusive report from Nexus Point News, the "The Punisher" special, likely titled "The Punisher: One Last Kill", is slated to begin filming in New York in mid-July and continue through the first week of August. This production schedule follows the wrap of "Daredevil: Born Again" Season 2, which is expected to conclude filming in the coming weeks. Nexus Point News also revealed that the special's plot will center on the Punisher attempting to escape from Kingpin's private prison. The primary antagonist will be Isabella "Ma" Gnucci (pictured above), the formidable leader of the powerful Gnucci crime family.
In the comics, Ma Gnucci, seeking revenge for the Punisher's killing of her three sons, mobilized the New York Police Department and hired assassins to hunt him down. The special will explore how Marvel Studios plans to adapt this intense conflict between the Punisher and the ruthless crime boss.
