The popular 8-inch action figure series "World's Greatest Super-Heroes" from the veteran American toy manufacturer Mego Corporation has been relaunched due to popular demand. A new Fantastic Four-themed product, the "Fantastic Four" 8-inch action figure set, has been exclusively released at Disney Store, with a suggested retail price of US$89.99, and is now available on the official US Disney Store website!
Mego was founded in New York, USA, in 1954. In 1971, Marty Abrams, known as the "Father of Modern Action Figures," took over its operation, launching various licensed action figure series from TV shows, movies, and comics, including but not limited to famous IPs such as Star Trek, The Wizard of Oz, and Planet of the Apes. The "World's Greatest Super-Heroes" is a popular series that transformed numerous Marvel and DC characters into action figures, and its iconic styling was referenced and directly adopted by Adult Swim's popular adult stop-motion animation series Robot Chicken!
This Fantastic Four 8-inch action figure set, released in anticipation of the upcoming Fantastic Four movie, includes all four family members: Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch, and The Thing. It faithfully recreates the 70s toy aesthetic using Mego's classic doll-making techniques. Sue and Reed's team uniforms are meticulously sewn from fabric, while Johnny and Ben's power-manifesting body shapes are reproduced with fabric patterns! The articulated body inside the clothing features 26 points of articulation, allowing for a wide range of dynamic poses!
The head sculpts capture the distinct facial features of each character. Sue's hair, in particular, is rendered in classic doll-like nylon material, reminiscent of Barbie dolls, creating a full-on retro "ugly-cute" aesthetic that will surely be a favorite for collectors who love American vintage toys! Furthermore, the outer box also faithfully recreates the 1976 window display design, offering a complete experience from packaging to the figures themselves, allowing everyone to relive the 70s atmosphere!
