Japanese toy company Kotobukiya KOTOBUKIYA will release its latest product, the "Father of Kitaro & Baby Kitaro" non-scale figure, based on the popular movie "The Birth of Kitaro: Mystery of GeGeGe". The suggested retail price is 22,880 JPY, with an estimated release in January 2026!
"The Birth of Kitaro: Mystery of GeGeGe" is a commemorative work released to celebrate the 100th anniversary of yokai master Shigeru Mizuki's birth. Set in Showa 31 (1956), the story follows Mizuki, who works at a blood bank, as he travels to the remote and mysterious Kukuragi Village to mourn the head of the Ryuga family, "Tokisada." There, he encounters a peculiar man searching for his missing wife, whom Mizuki calls "GeGeRo." As the Ryuga family engages in an ugly struggle for inheritance and the family head position, strange incidents continue to occur in the village. For different purposes, the two decide to investigate the forbidden secrets behind them...
The Kotobukiya "Father of Kitaro & Baby Kitaro" non-scale figure is based on the movie bonus illustration from the theatrical version of "The Birth of Kitaro: Mystery of GeGeGe." Character designer Touko Yatabe specially drew a full-body illustration for this figure, which was then sculpted into a three-dimensional form based on the new illustration! It delicately captures the loving, tearful joy of Kitaro's father, GeGeRo, as he holds baby Kitaro. His white hair covering his left eye, the natural wrinkles of his blue kimono, his gentle gestures, baby Kitaro's tiny hands, and their vivid expressions and tears... all convey a profound father-son bond and presence that only a figure can truly capture!
▼The Kotobukiya exclusive bonus is an acrylic stand.
