If you've been closely following the upcoming "Superman" film, you might have heard months ago about a leaked report that Bradley Cooper secretly filmed a small cameo for the movie, playing Superman's Kryptonian birth father, Jor-El. With the film's official release, this news has finally been confirmed, and writer-director James Gunn recently explained his reasons for inviting Cooper to appear.

As many know, Cooper and Gunn previously collaborated on the "Guardians of the Galaxy" trilogy, where Cooper voiced the pivotal character Rocket Raccoon. Cooper's demeanor perfectly matched Gunn's vision for Jor-El: "I needed someone who could play Jor-El well, someone who fit our vision for the character, someone who could follow in Marlon Brando's footsteps." Gunn admitted that he and Cooper are friends who have stayed in touch, and he greatly admires Cooper's talent in both acting and directing. When he made a single phone call asking Cooper for a small favor—to fly to a UK studio to film the holographic sequence for the movie—Cooper quickly agreed.
