GUNDAM BASE, Japan's official Gunpla flagship store for "Mobile Suit Gundam," has announced the latest event-exclusive product, "HG 1/144 Nightingale [Clear Color]," from the novel "Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack - Beltorchika's Children," scheduled for release on August 8, 2025.
The MSN-04II Nightingale, piloted by Commander Char Aznable, is a mobile suit that appears exclusively in the novel version, equivalent in status to the "MSN-04 Sazabi" from the anime. As an enhanced development of the Sazabi, the Nightingale boasts a significantly larger physique and is equipped with numerous high-thrust nozzles and five large fuel tanks, greatly improving its mobility and cruising range. Its large shoulders house 10 funnel weapons, and the skirt armor conceals hidden arms capable of surprise attacks with beam sabers. Furthermore, it features heavy-hitting beam armaments such as a large Mega Beam Rifle, a belly-mounted Diffusion Mega Particle Cannon, and a Beam Tomahawk.
The "HG 1/144 Nightingale [Clear Color]" is a modified version of the general release kit from 2021, with all red, black, white, and crimson parts throughout the model now rendered in clear molded colors. This not only allows the intricate internal frame details to be seen but also makes it more convenient for special customization techniques such as lighting installations or glow-in-the-dark paints, presenting a distinct style compared to standard Gunpla.
Once completed, the kit boasts a massive size, approximately 400mm wide and 211mm tall. The head antenna section features a movable mechanism that allows internal details to be revealed, and the mono-eye camera is also articulated. Movable joints are present in the shoulders, elbows, forearms, hips, knees, and feet, with the elbows and knees featuring two-axis movable joints.
The armament includes a large Mega Beam Rifle with a deployable bipod, a Beam Tomahawk, and a large shield capable of storing the Beam Tomahawk and missiles on its inner surface. Additionally, the belly armor can open to reveal the internal Mega Particle Cannon, and the mechanical arms hidden within the skirt armor can extend to equip beam sabers. The 10 funnel weapons mounted on the shoulders can also be individually detached to recreate their firing state.
