Nathan Fillion, known for his portrayal of Guy Gardner in "Superman" and as the voice of Green Lantern in animated projects, is marking a new career milestone this year: officially venturing into comic book creation. He is partnering with Dark Horse Comics to launch his original four-issue mini-series, "Witness Point."
Set in a seemingly tranquil rural town, "Witness Point" unravels when residents discover their community has been a secret Federal Witness Protection Program site for the past four decades. This shocking revelation plunges the entire community into an atmosphere of mutual suspicion. The situation takes an even more unsettling turn when a man claiming to be a U.S. Marshal is found dead in the street, dramatically shifting the dynamics overnight.
The narrative follows the town's sheriff, a female U.S. Marshal, and a cast of eccentric residents as they must collectively uncover the town's true secrets. Adding to the intrigue, the sheriff harbors a surprising and undisclosed past, further complicating the unfolding mystery. The comic's main visuals and initial illustrations are crafted by artist Kris Douglas, known as Captain Kris, whose style is described as vibrant and contemporary.
The series is co-created by Fillion and writer Heath Corson. Corson's previous credits include scripting DC animated features such as "Justice League: War" and "Justice League: Throne of Atlantis." He also previously collaborated with Fillion, who lent his voice to Green Lantern in an animated capacity.
Fillion stated that when Corson invited him to create this world, he immediately accepted, adding that as a lifelong comic book fan, being able to participate in the creation was a dream come true.
"Witness Point" is produced by Fillion's production company, Collision33, which he operates alongside his manager Michelle Chapman and Head of Development Josh Levy. To promote the new series, Fillion and Corson are slated to attend Comic-Con International: San Diego on July 26, 2025, where they will host a signing event and meet fans.
