At the 2025 San Diego Comic Convention (SDCC) retailer panel, Marvel Comics officially unveiled three brand-new variant covers for the upcoming crossover one-shot, "Deadpool/Batman" #1. These highly anticipated covers were drawn by Russell Dauterman, Daniel Warren Johnson, and legendary comic master Frank Miller himself.
This monumental collaboration between Marvel Comics and DC Comics is set for an official release on September 17, 2025, with DC following up in November with its corresponding one-shot, "Batman/Deadpool" #1.
The series will feature a head-to-head showdown between two iconic superheroes: Marvel's "Merc with a Mouth," Deadpool, and DC's "Dark Knight," Batman. Beyond the main story, the one-shot will also include thrilling backup short stories featuring various cross-universe team-ups.
Russell Dauterman's variant cover pays homage to the classic 1991 "The Infinity Gauntlet" #1 cover, bringing together a diverse cast of characters, including the unexpected pairing of Rocket Raccoon and Green Lantern. This particular story segment is penned by Al Ewing with art by Dike Ruan.

Another highlight focuses on comic legend Frank Miller, who not only drew a cover but will also write and illustrate a short story himself. This segment will depict a crossover between the future "Old Man Logan" Wolverine and Miller's "The Dark Knight Returns" version of Batman, as these two legendary post-apocalyptic characters are set for an intense confrontation.
Additionally, Daniel Warren Johnson's cover art features two classic characters created by Jack Kirby—Marvel's The Thing and DC's Big Barda—in a head-to-head battle.
