Screenwriter Ana Nogueira, previously rumored by foreign media and online sources to be penning the live-action "Teen Titans" movie, has not actually completed script development. DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn recently clarified that there is currently no official script for "Teen Titans," and the project is on hold.
This news comes as a surprise to many fans. As early as February 2025, Gunn and Peter Safran publicly stated that Nogueira was actively working on the "Teen Titans" script, even noting her passion for the project and that she had submitted a first draft for revisions.
However, Gunn recently responded to a fan's question, directly denying any substantial progress on the film. He stated, "That project doesn't exist; she has been focused on 'Wonder Woman' for a while now."
Industry observers speculate that Nogueira might have initially submitted only a concept outline or preliminary draft before being assigned to reboot the "Wonder Woman" script, thus halting "Teen Titans" development. Alternatively, Gunn might be downplaying its existence to prevent excessive speculation and to refocus attention on current priority projects.
While "Teen Titans" is not currently a top priority, Nogueira's involvement in major projects like "Supergirl" and "Wonder Woman" indicates her crucial role in the future narrative structure of the DCU.
Whether "Teen Titans" still has a chance to appear in DCU Chapter One: "Gods and Monsters" remains unknown. Aside from confirmed projects like "Peacemaker" Season Two, "Lanterns," and "Creature Commandos" sequels, most other plans await script submissions and executive approval before officially entering the production phase.
