From Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS HOBBY Division, the robot-themed plastic model "HG (High Grade)" series has announced its latest product from "Metal Armor Dragonar", the "HG 1/144 Dragonar-2 (Lifter-2 Equipped Type)", scheduled for release in November 2025.
The XD-02 Dragonar-2 is one of the latest D-weapons developed by the Giganos Army, piloted by Tap Oceano. Among the three Dragonars, this unit specializes in rear support and medium-to-long-range bombardment, optimized for artillery capabilities, capable of mounting a maximum of heavy armaments such as cannons, missiles, and Gatling guns. Its backpack can be swapped with the dedicated flight unit "XDFU-02 Lifter-2 Equipment", providing both bombardment capabilities and flight ability in gravitational environments.
The "HG 1/144 Dragonar-2 (Lifter-2 Equipped Type)" is produced using the latest modern technology, utilizing multi-colored molded parts to assemble a complete internal frame with detailed sculpting and articulated joints, as well as a refined design based on concept art and its anime appearance. The yellow patterns on the head and backpack, and the red sections on the limbs and wings, are all separate parts, reproducing the colors with molded plastic.
The Dragonar-2's main body features a complete internal frame, providing flexible articulated joint designs, allowing for various dynamic combat poses. The backpack can be reproduced in both standard and Lifter-2 equipped configurations by swapping parts. The Lifter-2's main wings also feature articulated designs; the two side turbine engines can flip upwards 90 degrees, and the wings have hidden hinges that allow them to fold and store, recreating its parked state.
The kit also faithfully reproduces the characteristic heavy armaments of Unit 2. The backpack-mounted rail cannons and twin machine guns have adjustable barrel angles. The hand parts feature the muzzle design of the twin 25mm machine guns. Additionally, it includes various weapon parts such as the 88m handheld rail cannon LPS7 type, a close-combat assault knife, spare magazines stored in the wrist armor, and a scabbard stored behind the calf!
