Marvel President Kevin Feige recently revealed that "Avengers: Doomsday" will feature a massive gathering of characters at the Fantastic Four's Baxter Building. This revelation has significantly heightened anticipation for the cosmic event, even as it further complicates the MCU timeline.
In an interview, Feige stated that one of the joys of making "Avengers" films is seeing various characters with distinct personalities interact. He added that if the film's central threat involves "worlds colliding," then it becomes even more compelling to see them visit each other. He drew a contrast, noting that while "The Fantastic Four: First Steps" might feature only four or five individuals in the Baxter Building, "Doomsday" will see it "packed with people."

As depicted in the film, "The Fantastic Four: First Steps" is set in Universe 828, while the primary Avengers' world is Universe 616. A post-credits scene in "Thunderbolts*" showed the Fantastic Four's ship arriving in Universe 616. This has led to confusion regarding how other Avengers will traverse the multiverse to reach the Baxter Building in Universe 828.
"Doomsday" will assemble a mixed team of "new and old" Avengers to confront Doctor Doom, portrayed by Robert Downey Jr.

Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach are set to return as the Fantastic Four. They will join forces with Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Anthony Mackie as the new Captain America, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Letitia Wright as Black Panther, and members of "Thunderbolts*."
"Avengers: Doomsday" is slated for release on December 18, 2026. "The Fantastic Four: First Steps" is currently playing in theaters worldwide.
