Jeremy Renner: 'Hawkeye' Star, Who Once Slammed Disney Over Season 2 Pay, Says He's "150% Stronger" and Ready for MCU Return

Jeremy Renner, known for his role as Hawkeye, recently told Empire magazine that he is "very sure" he will return for a second season of the Disney+ series "Hawkeye," adding that he feels ready to rejoin the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Beyond his affection for the character, Renner stressed that his physical recovery is strong enough to tackle the demanding action sequences required. "I truly believe we'll eventually do 'Hawkeye' Season 2, and I'd be happy to be involved in other projects too," he stated. "My body is already preparing for it."

This confident declaration follows Renner's remarkable recovery from a near-fatal snowplow accident in early 2023. The incident left him with severe injuries, including eight ribs broken in 14 places, fractures to his right knee and ankle, left tibia, clavicle, and shoulder. At one point, it was uncertain if he would ever return to physically demanding roles. Yet, after extensive rehabilitation, Renner now asserts, "I'm 150% stronger than I was before."

Renner candidly admitted that his recovery journey has been driven by making health and rehabilitation his core life priorities. "I've invested a tremendous amount of time into making myself better and stronger," he shared. "If it weren't for that accident, I wouldn't have had this kind of motivation."

The road back hasn't been entirely smooth, however. Renner also revealed that Marvel did approach him about returning for "Hawkeye" Season 2, but the proposed compensation was only half of what he received for the first season. He expressed his bewilderment at the offer, stating, "I was like, 'Are you guys thinking I'm only half a Jeremy after getting run over? So you're only going to pay half the price?'"

Despite the initial pay dispute, Renner remains optimistic about his potential return to the MCU. He even joked, "I don't know if people still want to see me in a tight suit, but at least my body looks good now."
