Three years ago, Warner Bros. announced plans for an "Ocean's Eleven" prequel, with "Barbie" stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling set to reunite. Jay Roach, who directed Robbie in "Bombshell" and is known for the "Austin Powers" trilogy, was initially attached to direct. However, with production yet to begin, Roach has now been replaced.

Deadline reports that Korean-American filmmaker Lee Isaac Chung, acclaimed for "Minari" and the upcoming "Twisters" (pictured above), is currently in negotiations to helm the "Ocean's Eleven" prequel. The latest draft of the script comes from Carrie Solomon, writer of the Netflix romantic comedy "A Family Affair."

The prequel is being produced by LuckyChap Entertainment, the company co-founded by Robbie. The film is set in the 1960s, aligning with the era of the original 1960 "Ocean's Eleven" movie. Previous reports indicated that Robbie and Gosling would portray the parents of master thieves Danny and Debbie Ocean, the iconic characters played by George Clooney and Sandra Bullock in earlier installments. A release date has not yet been scheduled.
