T-ARTS, the popular toy brand under Japan's TAKARA TOMY Company, is set to release the latest addition to its beloved "Shoulder-Lean Fig." capsule toy series: "Shoulder-Lean Fig. Chibi Maruko-chan Vol.2 -Sakura Family-." Each capsule will retail for 400 JPY, with an anticipated release in mid-August 2025.
Created by the late manga artist Momoko Sakura, "Chibi Maruko-chan" draws inspiration from her own childhood experiences. The series was adapted into an anime by Nippon Animation in 1990, chronicling the daily lives of Maruko, her family, and classmates – a cherished childhood memory for many fans.
Following the previous first volume, which featured Maruko's classmates, "Shoulder-Lean Fig. Chibi Maruko-chan Vol.2 -Sakura Family-" shifts its focus to Maruko's family, offering five distinct figures. The lineup includes Maruko herself, her older sister Sakiko Sakura, mother Sumire Sakura, father Hiroshi Sakura, and grandfather Tomozo Sakura. Each figure, standing approximately 5.3 cm tall, faithfully recreates the characters' iconic designs. They are all sculpted in a relaxed pose with their heads tilted to the left, and their painted expressions perfectly capture their individual personalities. Maruko's one-eyed peek is particularly adorable, and displaying the entire family together creates a wonderfully heartwarming scene!
