Marvel's "2099" Universe Nears Its End: New "The End 2099" Series Unleashes "Spider-Man 3099"

Marvel Comics is set to launch "The End 2099," a new five-issue limited series this December, signaling the conclusion of its iconic future "2099" universe.

Penned by original series writer Steve Orlando and artist Ibraim Roberson, the new series will plunge readers back into this cyberpunk-infused dystopian world.

The narrative sees Mephisto joining forces with the enigmatic multiversal entity "Abyssus" to wage a devastating war on a distant planet. The heroes of 2099—including Spider-Man 2099, Nova 2099, and Red Hulk 2099—will confront classic characters summoned by Abyssus from across various timelines, such as Age of Apocalypse Wolverine, Ms. Marvel, and House of M's Scarlet Witch, in an "universe-versus-universe" extinction-level showdown.

However, the most intriguing introduction is a character from an entirely new reality: Spider-Man 3099. Orlando describes him as "the first hero in history," a figure who has never encountered another Spider-Man until his destiny-altering meeting with Miguel O'Hara.

"This isn't just a farewell; it's a championship battle," Orlando emphasized. "We're not only paying homage to Marvel's history but also officially launching the story of a new era of Spider-Man." As the 2099 universe unifies into the singular, true "Universe-2099," this ultimate, cross-temporal showdown will redefine what it means to be a hero of the future.
