The new merchandise series "DESKTOP MONSTER", launched by GODZILLA ROOM, the IP management department for the "Godzilla" series under Japan's Toho Co., Ltd., has announced its latest products from the movie "Shin Godzilla": "Godzilla (2016) Mobile Stand" and "Godzilla (2016) Mobile Stand Heat Ray Ver.". The normal version is now available in Japan, while the Heat Ray version is scheduled for release in October 2025.
The Godzilla that appeared in the movie "Shin Godzilla" was jointly designed by director Hideaki Anno, designer Mahiro Maeda, and sculptor Takayuki Takeya, among others. It is a gigantic "perfect organism" capable of freely and rapidly evolving and devolving, quickly adapting to its environment, undergoing several evolutions within hours of landing in Japan. Godzilla possesses a "thermonuclear energy conversion bio-organ" within its body, seemingly able to generate immense energy and release radioactive substances without needing to eat. In the film, after being attacked by US military bombers, it entered an awakened state, spewing a heat ray from its mouth that instantly engulfed Tokyo's bustling streets in flames, completely beyond the current scope of human knowledge.
The "DESKTOP MONSTER Godzilla (2016) Mobile Stand", including its base, stands approximately 17 cm tall. It features a terrifying head sculpt, extremely short forelimbs, and a huge, thick tail, all crafted with excellent sculpting and coloring. The Heat Ray version, on the other hand, features swapped head and tail-end sculpts with purple coloring, depicting the terrifying pose of simultaneously firing heat rays from both its mouth and tail, with its mouth wide open. Both stands can secure a mobile phone between the base's protrusion and Godzilla's main body.
