To commemorate the upcoming brand exhibition "TAMASHII NATION 2025," scheduled from November 14-16, 2025, BANDAI SPIRITS' Collectors Division TAMASHII NATIONS in Japan has announced a commemorative product from its robot-themed action figure series "ROBOT SPIRITS ver. A.N.I.M.E.": the "Gundam Mk-II (AEUG Specification) ver. A.N.I.M.E. Z Gundam 40th Anniversary Edition" from "Mobile Suit Z Gundam." For detailed sales information, please refer to the official website.
In Universal Century 0087, the Titans, an elite radical faction of the Earth Federation Forces advocating Earth supremacy, sought to assert their legitimacy over the pro-space faction AEUG. They excluded engineers with Zeon backgrounds and appointed Franklin Bidan, protagonist Kamille Bidan's father, to lead the development. This resulted in the creation of the "RX-178 Gundam Mk-II," a successor to the iconic "RX-78 Gundam" series that turned the tide of the One Year War. While possessing an extremely similar external design, the entire unit was built using the latest contemporary technology, with the implementation of a "movable frame" significantly enhancing its mobility, expandability, and ease of maintenance. After the AEUG successfully seized two Gundam Mk-II units, it became the primary mobile suit for protagonist Kamille Bidan in the early stages of the conflict.
The "ROBOT SPIRITS Gundam Mk-II (AEUG Specification) ver. A.N.I.M.E. Z Gundam 40th Anniversary Edition" is a modified version of the previously released standard edition. The entire unit features a lower-saturation color scheme and includes extensive body marking prints, enhancing the model's sense of weight and realism. Among the accessories, a new display stand with the unit's nameplate printed on it has been added, which can be combined with separately sold clear stands to display the unit in aerial poses. This version also includes a limited "ROBOT SPIRITS ver. A.N.I.M.E. Universal Century Development Catalog" booklet.
The abundant weapon accessories include a beam rifle, shield, hyper bazooka, head vulcan pod system, beam sabers, spare energy packs, and spare bazooka magazines. The shield features a movable mechanism that allows it to transform into a short shield, and energy packs can be stored on its inner surface. However, effect parts such as bazooka firing, beam rifle firing, curved beam saber blades, and thruster propulsion, which were included in the standard edition, are not included in this commemorative edition.
