After his 2016 film "Snowden," which garnered mixed reviews and underperformed at the box office, award-winning director Oliver Stone fully dedicated himself to the documentary realm. He subsequently released acclaimed works such as "The Putin Interviews" and "Nuclear Now." Now, nine years later, Stone appears ready to return to narrative filmmaking, with his new project slated to begin production in the coming months.

Italian weekly L'Espresso recently revealed that Stone plans to commence filming his next narrative feature, "White Lies," this fall. Production is expected to last four months, with filming locations in Italy and Thailand. Benicio del Toro is set to star in the film. Stone had initially planned to begin production in 2019, with del Toro confirmed to join in 2018, but the project was shelved for undisclosed reasons.
The film's story will span three generations. Del Toro portrays Jack, a man from a divorced family who finds himself repeating his parents' mistakes in his own marriage and with his troubled son. Feeling trapped, Jack embarks on a desperate quest for freedom, only to find himself in an even more perplexing situation. His life's trajectory changes when he meets a woman whose life is the polar opposite of his own, sparking a journey of self-discovery.
