DC Studios co-CEO and "Superman" director James Gunn recently remained tight-lipped about the future of Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn in the new DC Universe during an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

When asked if Robbie would return to portray the deadly and sharp-tongued anti-hero, Gunn simply responded, "That will be revealed down the line."
While he kept Harley's future plans under wraps, Gunn was more explicit about another "Suicide Squad" member: he hopes to see Idris Elba's Bloodsport make a return.
"I definitely am always looking for a place to put Bloodsport and figuring that out," he stated. "So we'll see what happens."

Margot Robbie has embodied Harley Quinn three times in DC films since 2016, first appearing in David Ayer's "Suicide Squad," then starring in the 2020 spin-off "Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)," and finally returning in Gunn's 2021 film "The Suicide Squad."
Robbie confessed in a 2020 interview with Variety that she "fell in love" with the character while filming the first "Suicide Squad." To better understand Harley's mental state, she listened to TED Talks by women with schizophrenia and delved into numerous related comics, describing Harley's "unpredictable nature as a gift for an actor."
Additionally, there has been speculation that Harley Quinn could appear in Matt Reeves' "The Batman Part II," given her close ties to Batman in the comics. However, the first "The Batman" film was released in March 2022, prior to Gunn and Peter Safran taking over DC Studios. Therefore, whether that series will be integrated into Gunn's interconnected universe remains unknown.
