James Gunn Unveils "Superman Saga" Title for Next Film, Teases "Peacemaker" Season 2's DCU Impact

DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn recently unveiled the "Superman Saga" — a new project that will encompass his next film in development — while promoting "Peacemaker" Season 2.

The series' timeline will pick up immediately after this summer's "Superman" film, marking a crucial chapter in the newly established DCU.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Gunn revealed he has completed the script outline for the next installment in the "Superman Saga", noting the content is "very complete" and that he hopes to move into production soon.

While the exact scope remains under wraps, speculation suggests the project could include next year's "Supergirl" film and is connected to the involvement of David Corenswet's Superman.

Warner Bros. CEO David Zaslav had previously referred to the film as the next chapter in the "Superman family" during an earnings call, but Gunn stated that "Superman Saga" carries more gravitas. Gunn emphasized that this is not a traditional "Superman" sequel, but rather a fresh story extension.

Currently confirmed DCU film projects include "Supergirl" and "Clayface," both slated for 2026, followed by a new "Wonder Woman" film. Matt Reeves' "The Batman Part II" is set to begin filming next spring for a December 2027 release. Additionally, "The Brave and the Bold" will introduce a new DCU Batman, though its release date remains unconfirmed.
