DC Comics and Marvel Comics have unveiled a fresh batch of variant covers and new story details for the first issue of their crossover event, "Deadpool/Batman." The Marvel-led issue is set to hit shelves on September 17, 2025, followed by the DC-led "Batman/Deadpool" #1 on November 19, 2025, from the celebrated creative team of writer Grant Morrison and artist Dan Mora.

According to the official description, "Batman/Deadpool" is more than just a publishing collaboration—it's a head-on collision of two narrative philosophies. The Dark Knight, who channels his trauma into a quest for justice from the shadows, will fight alongside the fourth-wall-breaking, chaotic "Merc with a Mouth." Together, they will not only confront a crisis threatening both their worlds but also challenge their very existence as fictional characters.
The newly revealed covers feature art from Dan Mora, Frank Quitely, and Ryan Sook. One particularly fun variant by Sook pays homage to the iconic cover of "Crisis on Infinite Earths" #7, which famously depicts Superman holding the fallen Supergirl, but replaces the heroes with Batman cradling Deadpool.

The 64-page issue will feature the main story plus four additional DC/Marvel showdowns: Constantine vs. Doctor Strange, Nightwing vs. Wolverine (Laura Kinney), Harley Quinn vs. Hulk, and Static vs. Ms. Marvel.

Morrison stated that he has taken on very few comic projects in recent years, but the chance to reunite with Dan Mora on a Batman and Deadpool story was an offer he couldn't refuse. Mora called the project a dream come true, describing the opportunity to collaborate with Morrison on a "once-in-a-lifetime" crossover as a tremendous honor.
