Paramount Pictures surprised fans last year by announcing a sixth installment in the long-dormant "Scary Movie" franchise. The studio then brought back the series' original creative masterminds, the Wayans brothers, to helm the new story. Today, Paramount delivered even more news that is sure to delight fans: two of the core stars from the first four films — Regina Hall as Brenda and Anna Faris as Cindy — are confirmed to reprise their roles.

The Wayans brothers are penning the script for this installment. Keenen Ivory Wayans, who directed and co-wrote the first two films, and his younger brothers Shawn Wayans and Marlon Wayans, who starred in and co-wrote the initial two entries, are all involved. Directing this installment is Michael Tiddes, a frequent collaborator with the Wayans brothers. Tiddes previously helmed the Wayans-led "A Haunted House" series and "Fifty Shades of Black." The film is slated for a June 12, 2026 release in North America.
