BANDAI SPIRITS Hobby Division in Japan is set to release the latest product from the anime "Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury," the "MGSD Gundam Aerial," on August 23, 2025. Ahead of its release, official new information including the product box art design and actual sample images have been unveiled.
The XVX-016 Gundam Aerial is a GUND-ARM type mobile suit developed by Shin Sei Development Corporation on Mercury. Its development was led by President Prospera and piloted by her daughter, Suletta Mercury. This unit is equipped with armaments such as a beam saber, beam rifle, and shield. The shield can separate into 11 "GUND-Bits," which can be used not only as remotely controlled all-range wireless weapons (funnels/bits) but also connect to various points across the body and the beam rifle, serving as equipment to enhance mobility and firepower. Furthermore, when piloted by Suletta, it can activate a superhuman, high-level "Permet Score," unleashing inexplicable and formidable abilities.
The "MGSD Gundam Aerial" integrates a precise movable inner frame within its SD proportions, utilizing multiple colors such as gray, silver, and clear parts to achieve a high-density sculpt. The head's twin-eye cameras feature a multi-layered structure with clear green on the outside and silver internal parts on the inside, showcasing more three-dimensional mechanical details. For the characteristic glowing parts across its body, an original mechanism with deployable matte black covers has been incorporated. The internal parts that represent the glowing lines can be swapped between red and blue at any time, reproducing both the normal red glow state and the blue glow state when "Permet Score Level 6" is activated.
The front skirt armor features an independent movable axis that can be raised upwards, thereby reducing interference with the legs' articulation in the SD proportion, allowing for natural and flexible poses such as high kneeling. Weapon accessories include a beam rifle, beam saber, shield, and beam effect parts. The hands, equipped with connecting structures, enhance the grip strength when holding weapons. The shield also faithfully reproduces the mechanism of separating into 11 "GUND-Bits," which can be equipped on various parts of the body to recreate the "BIT ON FORM" enhanced mode, or combined with a separately sold display stand to reproduce the funnel/bit mode.
