Gunpla MGSD Latest Work 'Destiny Gundam' Announced: Low Head-to-Body Ratio Recreates Intricate Armor Details and Inner Frame!

BANDAI SPIRITS Hobby Division in Japan has announced the latest product from its new 'MGSD (MASTER GRADE SD)' series, which combines MG series technology with SD Gundam proportions. This new item, the 'Destiny Gundam' from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY, is scheduled for release in February 2026.

The ZGMF-X42S Destiny Gundam is the latest mobile suit developed by the Z.A.F.T. military under the direction of PLANT Supreme Council Chairman Gilbert Durandal, prior to the decisive battle with the Earth Alliance. It serves as the successor unit for Z.A.F.T. pilot Shin Asuka. Developed based on the Impulse Gundam's design, the Destiny Gundam integrates the equipment of all three 'Silhouette Systems'—Force, Blast, and Sword—into a single unit. It also utilizes technologies prohibited by the Junius Treaty, such as the Hyper Duetrion Engine and Mirage Colloid, enabling it to deploy the 'Wings of Light' for extreme acceleration and scatter Mirage Colloid particles to create afterimages. Its performance far surpasses that of second-generation mobile suits like the Impulse Gundam.

The kit utilizes a rich array of molded colors to represent the various VPS armor hues of the Destiny Gundam. Some inner frame parts employ 'Realistic Metallic Gloss Injection' technology to achieve a metallic texture, while transparent parts for the twin-eye cameras and other areas use 'REFLECTION CUT' technology to create a luminous effect. The entire model also features flexible articulation, and the backpack wings boast multiple movable axes, allowing them to deploy into a magnificent silhouette. Furthermore, powerful 'Wings of Light' effect parts are included, which will be the largest ever released for a Destiny Gundam product.

The weaponry includes a High-Energy Beam Rifle, Beam Shield effect parts, a 'Palm Beam Cannon' with a metallic muzzle texture, and 'Beam Boomerangs' that can be detached from the shoulders and equipped with beam effects. The two large backpack-mounted armaments, the 'Arondight' Beam Sword and the High-Energy Long-Range Beam Cannon, also incorporate original MGSD mechanisms, featuring movable designs to extend the sword tip and deploy the cannon barrel, respectively.
