The "Ikimono Daizukan" (Creature Encyclopedia) product series, issued by Bandai Toy Company's Gashapon division and known for faithfully reproducing realistic details of creatures from the natural world, is currently releasing the latest "Ikimono Daizukan Repti Poison Dart Frog" (いきもの大図鑑レプティ ヤドクガエル) capsule toys on GASHAPON ONLINE! Scheduled for release in November 2025, with a suggested retail price of 500 Japanese Yen per capsule, there are a total of five designs to collect.
This new "Ikimono Daizukan Repti" release features the poison dart frog, a small-bodied creature with vibrant skin colors that lives in humid tropical environments! The overall sculpt was handled by Japanese animal sculptor Kondo (Makoto Kobo), who vividly shaped a body that is more slender than the common Japanese tree frog, with long, thin limbs, and adjusted the proportion of the eyes to create an exaggerated sense of volume!
Measuring approximately 5 cm, not only can the mouth open and close, but all four limbs also feature articulated mechanisms, allowing for dynamic, lifelike poses; considering that poison dart frogs are typically around 2-6 cm in size, holding these in your hand truly feels incredibly authentic.
▼ In addition to the exquisite sculpting, the color representation is also a major highlight of this poison dart frog capsule toy series! The black spots on the back of this cobalt blue poison dart frog are absolutely stunning~
▼ This time, all designs include the Strawberry Poison Dart Frog, Cobalt Blue Poison Dart Frog, Yellow-banded Poison Dart Frog, Green-and-Black (Camouflage) Poison Dart Frog, and Fine-spotted Poison Dart Frog.
