The iconic 1980s series "Knight Rider" has been in various stages of feature film development for years. Five years ago, horror maestro James Wan, known for "The Conjuring," brought his Atomic Monster production company to the project. More recently, "Bullet Train" director David Leitch and his producing partner Kelly McCormick, through their 87North production banner, took over producing duties.

Today, The Hollywood Reporter (THR) broke news of the latest developments. According to their sources, Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Josh Heald — the three showrunners behind "The Karate Kid" sequel series "Cobra Kai" — are in talks to write the screenplay for the "Knight Rider" film. Hurwitz and Schlossberg are also reportedly eyed to direct the project.
