BANDAI SPIRITS Hobby Division from Japan has announced the release of the protagonist machine from the anime "Macross Frontier," the 「VF-25F Messiah Valkyrie (Alto Saotome Custom)」, as part of their "HG (High Grade)" 1/100 scale plastic model kit series from the "Macross" franchise, scheduled for March 2026. This product will be simultaneously released in a standard version and a DX version with more luxurious accessories.
Named after the Messiah, the VF-25 Messiah Valkyrie is the main variable fighter utilized by the New U.N. Spacy's escort fleet of the "Macross Frontier" colonization fleet and the private military company "S.M.S". It possesses characteristics of previous models like the VF-19 Excalibur and VF-22 Sturmvogel, with enhanced performance. It also employs the new "EX-GEAR" pilot suit, which combines joystick and ejection seat functions, and the new "ISC" (Inertia Store Converter) system, which utilizes the FOLD system, to address the issue of excessive G-force load on pilots. However, the "FOLD Quartz" raw material for manufacturing ISC must be extracted from the super-dimensional lifeform "Vajra," making the aircraft's production cost considerably high.
The 「HG 1/100 VF-25F Messiah Valkyrie (Alto Saotome Custom)」 utilizes multiple molded color parts to create its sharp and refined armor design, featuring intricate detail sculpting. The cockpit canopy is made of a polarizing material whose color changes with the reflection angle. Additionally, it includes five-layer color-correcting stickers made with aluminum vapor deposition on PET film, characterized by their extreme thinness, high opacity, and vibrant color, allowing for easy reproduction of the numerous aircraft markings.
With a "simple three-stage transformation mechanism" that involves swapping some parts, it can quickly transform into FIGHTER, GERWALK, and BATTROID forms. In the robot BATTROID form, the variable main wings can be stored behind the fuselage, and designs such as pull-out shoulder joints and three-axis chest articulation enable highly dynamic action poses. Pose it in combat stances with its shield, knife, beam gun pod, and other armaments.
The more luxurious DX version, in addition to including the standard model kit, further adds a newly drawn "Sheryl Nome Double-Sided Illustration Acrylic Stand" and "Sheryl Nome Water-Slide Decals" by Risa Ebata, the character designer for "Macross Frontier."
