BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd.'s collector's toy division, TAMASHII NATIONS, has officially announced the latest product from its classic alloy toy『Chogokin』series, the「METAL GEAR REX」from the classic stealth game 'Metal Gear Solid', slated for release in February 2026.
The fictional weapon METAL GEAR REX from the 'Metal Gear Solid' video game series is a bipedal walking tank secretly developed by the U.S. Army and weapons developer Arms Tech. Its creator,Hal Emmerich (Otacon), was told that REX was designed for Theater Missile Defense (TMD) purposes, equipped with a railgun, 30mm Gatling gun, FEL (Free Electron Laser) cannon, and anti-tank missiles. Its extremely robust ceramic composite armor could even withstand the power of anti-tank high-explosive rounds. However, all of this was merely a facade; the true purpose of this machine's development was to launch the "new type nuclear warhead" developed concurrently.
The「Chogokin METAL GEAR REX」is crafted at a height of approximately 17.5 cm, with intricately sculpted details on its armor surface and a color application that faithfully reproduces the armor's camouflage pattern. Key joint parts throughout the entire model utilize alloy materials, achieving a weapon-like heft and a substantial feel during handling. Furthermore, an original Chogokin mechanism allows for the deployment of certain armor sections, revealing the internal alloy frame. Additionally, the head is equipped with an LED lighting mechanism.
The 'railgun' on the main body, used for launching nuclear warheads, boasts an impressive length of 26 cm, and its legs extend to a maximum length of 18 cm. It features a flexible articulation design, allowing it to gradually stand up from a fully retracted standby state, enabling dynamic and action-packed combat poses. Additionally, two different display stands are included as accessories, accommodating forward-leaning poses.
