About Ayako Takagi:

Born in Taito-ku, Tokyo, after graduating from Camberwell College of Arts in the UK, she returned to Japan to establish "Studio Uamou," continuously developing her iconic character UAMOU—an innocent and kind alien boy from a distant planet, who embarks on various adventures with his best friend Boo. Although Uamou has no mouth, he communicates telepathically through his antenna-like horns, depicting communication and connection in a silent world with rich emotion and understanding.

She loves collecting British and French antiques, especially 18th-19th century jewelry and miniature objects, drawing inspiration from them. These time-consuming and meticulously handcrafted objects have influenced her pursuit of craftsmanship, emotion, and the longevity of creation, permeating her artistic language.

This exhibition will feature a series of new creations themed "SHADOW." "SHADOW" is a dark monster born from UAMOU's heart.

As sadness and unease quietly accumulate, negative emotions slowly swell and deform, eventually becoming a daunting shadow that in turn entangles oneself. In this internal struggle, UAMOU does not shy away but chooses to confront vulnerability and fear directly. This story is a journey of self-reconciliation, growth through scars, and ultimately moving towards light. The exhibition will showcase various creative forms: paintings with delicate emotional brushstrokes, ceramics with a handcrafted warmth, and uniquely styled soft vinyl toys, among others. Additionally, new works specially created for this exhibition by Ayako Takagi's father, Mr. Minoru Takagi, a craftsman skilled in gem setting, will also be displayed.

Everyone is welcome to step into UAMOU's inner world and witness the glimmer of light emerging from the shadows.
