"Call of Duty," a video game IP of such immense renown, was naturally destined for a screen adaptation. In 2015, Activision established Activision Blizzard Studios, embarking on a mission to build a live-action "Call of Duty" cinematic universe. By 2018, the studio had even announced Stefano Sollima, director of "Sicario: Day of the Soldado," to helm the first film. However, two years later, Sollima confirmed that the project's development had been put on hold.

Yet, the path to a live-action "Call of Duty" was far from over. Entertainment outlet Puck News recently broke the news that Paramount Pictures is currently in discussions to acquire the film adaptation rights for the "Call of Duty" franchise. While these negotiations are reportedly in their very early stages, sources indicate a high probability of the deal moving forward. Given the nascent phase of talks, details such as which specific game will be adapted, who will be brought on to write, direct, or star, and a potential release date all remain undetermined.
